A couple of notes

The trip around Samsø was quite a success. The group of seven paddlers was a mix of dedicated seakayakers and race paddlers. Different paddling cultures, pretty bad weather and loads of fun.

I did manage to tear of a good chunk of the skin of my sunburned nose when climbing into my Chillcheater tuilik. Damn is that thing tight when pulling the head through the neck tube. It’s like given birth to yourself…

Anyway I think my current style of mixing racing techniques/equipment with greenland-style is promising. Paddling with a Wing/GP wearing a tuilik in a fast seakayak sitting racing style with knees together and steering with a tiller-bar control.

Udo Beier joined in on the trip and brought me a large box containing an almost complete collection of Seakayaker Magazine. While I’m not the biggest fan of SK(too much fluff recently) I did read some interesting articles and discussions in the older issues. Apparently Nigel Foster isn’t(wasn’t) quite the pinky paddler that This is the Sea pictures him as while John Dowd lacks understanding of using race techniques for touring.

Staying warm during lunch breaks

With winter closing in, we’re once again facing the problem of staying warm during lunch breaks.

I’ve started a thread on P.net where I present some of my thoughts and ask for advice. There’s a couple interesting answers.

As for keeping the feet warm during paddling, it helps to pump the legs(just bringing in my pet peeve again).
